It's hard to believe that we've been visiting Serik everyday for a week now. We took him on our first joint walk outside yesterday - he was bundled to within an inch of his life.
Irina said we had to make sure to keep his mouth covered and explained that the Kazak children are raised differently than we are for instance - quoting her here, "we know if you drink cold water than you get a sore throat" - ahhh, that explains it. So when in Rome, or when in Kaz...
We were only outside for a little bit then we went back inside to play. Total misnomer as it's more like watch mom and dad make funny faces and rattle things at me while i insist on being held and rocked. He knows how it works - smart kid. We found out that today (Sat) there would not be a visit because there is either an inspection of the baby house or a tv crew was going to be there - heard both so note sure - but regardless that means we don't get to see the wee one until Monday afternoon. Last night we walked to the Brabson's apt and had dinner with them. Hanging out with them and then walking home meant that we were actually up past 9 pm - woohoo making progress. I think the walk home in drizzle didn't help my brewing cold. Am now completely stuffed up with crap in my chest - so started antibiotics. Guess it's good that we can't visit today because I wouldn't be able to. So today it's off to the mall - should be interesting to see the difference. Sunday we have been invited by Karina's family to come over at 12noon for a visit?food? Not sure. I do know that her brother called us yesterday and that Karina had given him our number and that he wanted to know how he could help us. Also said that his family wanted to have us over to thank us for letting Karina stay with us this summer. Should be a fun experience.
