First day at baby house

So after our brief meeting with Serik we went to a Russian restaurant for lunch - was good and cheap. Then went to buy some groceries etc. at the Ramstore. Basically we spent the evening watching BBC and went to bed. After 12 hours of sleep we spent yesterday morning getting hooked to the internet and then went on a walk along the Ishin River to explore and get some exercise. Went back to the Ramstore to get some more things we forgot - tomato sauce (had bought hotsauce w/ olives instead -oops), sponges, baking pan, eggs - you get the drill. Got back and got ready to go to the baby house. Our driver picked us up at 1:45 and we were on our way - stopping once to pick up Irina. We got there and Irina immediately guided us to where Serik's baby room was. We met his caregiver who is a warm, friendly woman. She kept saying 'mama' to Serik and asked if we had pampers. They don't use diapers in the baby house... basically it's tights with folded diapers that sit in the crotch area. So when she was stripping Serik down poop was flying out - nice! She cleaned him off in the bidet and put on an outfit that we had brought for him - no more pants up to his armpits thank you very much. Then he was all ours! We took him to the playroom (which by the time we left had 5 families playing with their babies)to play - obviously. A couple of things: 1. apparently i did not know how to use the nasal bulb and the poor kid got a couple of blasts of his air up his nose instead of my clearing out his nose - well at least i know how to do it now. 2. the boy has teeth! I know we mentioned this yesterday but holy moly - kurt found out first hand (literally) or first finger! He bit down and did not let go. ahhhh the joys of parenthood. it cracked me up though. We ended up only having an hour with him and by the end he was yawning. We've discovered that he can almost sit up and that he can scoot along the floor so crawling shouldn't be too far behind. He eats a mash of potatos and beef and since he has teeth they've given him a bite of apple and he liked it (which seemed to really surpise them).
Obviously we found a card reader and are now able to load pics so we've added them to the previous days. Had dinner with the Brabsons at the North Winds English Pub then called it a night. Lot's of luxury cars here - Kurt's seen Mercedes Maybach plus tons of Lexus, Escalades, etc. Will post more later. Hope you all are well.

Chandra and Kurt-
Just checked your site today for the first time and saw the pictures of you with your baby. I couldn't help it, I burst into tears! I am just so happy for you both, and for him! So glad you made it there safely. Don't worry that he's too sociable--he's just happy to see his Mommy and Daddy!

Much love, Terri

Hee hee hee I love that he's got all those teeth -- and that he knows how to use them. And oh, looks like he knows his Mommy and Daddy because he's got such a great smile on his face. Yay!
