Found out this morning at our visit that we will indeed get custody of Sasha on Friday afternoon. That is good news because we thought that it might be Tues the 9th - worse case scenario.
Before I talk more about Sasha i'll fill you in on our Thanksgiving dinner. We had a great meal with great company. There were 3 couples there besides Serik and myself. One, the host couple with their two children, and two other consulate employees with their spouses and children.
We ate a lot - not as much as I would have if we'd been home or in N.C - and had great conversation. The kids ran around playing and screaming and building forts and pillow piles so Serik had a great time too. He decided to eat like a dog (I thought) while we were there but he informed me that he was eating like a kitty cat. Ahhhh - yes, the subtle differences. I am such a proud mother. 
It was easy to get him into bed when we got home about 8 and he slept until 8:30 this a.m. - yeah - too bad my sleep wasn't as good.
Will probably try to squeeze in a few more playdates with them before we get custody of the baby.
Will say that once again we are in great hands with Saule our coordinator. The Spanish lady who is visiting arrived the same day we did but took a few days to pick out her child. Her court isn't scheduled until Dec. 3rd (ours was the 21st) and she doesn't think she'll be getting to pick up the baby until Jan. 10th. She's a surgeon in Pamplona, Spain and has to return home after court and she's not too happy about the length of time. She also had a bit of a scare when her daughter's birth mother wouldn't sign the papers.
So am thanking our lucky stars that Saule knows the drill and has many friendships in this arena

Great news that you get custody when you had hoped. How long does it take you guys to get all your paperwork done? It will take us 3 days after 15 day period just to get the birth certificate. I am glad you will be going home soon with Sasha. Cograts!!
