Stolen Post and I'm a criminal

First the stolen post part - thought I would take a piece of Leigh Ann's post that described our street crossing adventure: "Everything was going very well until we hear Chandra say "this part is like frogger" and see them running across the 6 lanes of traffic. Once we figured out what was going on, we had gotten stuck on the center yellow line with traffic coming at us from both sides. Gia and I were screaming, laughing in fear with tears running down our eyes. Ben was yelling at Gia and Marc was standing there also in fear. Once we made it across we were met by Chandra taking pictures of us and the Military Police yelling at us. As if we didn't know we were idiots for doing that. " Yeah - we were a big help standing there taking pictures while they were in peril ---- Seems I have a way of doing that - laughing when someone needs help (sorry Caryn). Serik has taken to calling us 'momma bird' or 'momma goat' and he is 'baby bird' or 'baby goat'. He says, 'mama bird i want to snuggle with you' or 'put me in the nest mama bird' which is his bed. It's pretty darn cute. Update on the potty: When we ask are you ready to go poopoo he says, 'almost, in a little bit later on'. Oh well. He's loving preteding to be on the elevator and pretending to cook in the microwave. Kurt and I spent last night trying to put together a 3-D balsam wood car puzzle for Serik - aaah fun. Will show pics of the attempt when we post later on today. It's cold and there's some snow but the wind isn't too bad right now so we'll try and go for a walk before our visit to the baby house. We thought it wasn't too brutal out so we went for a walk and took Serik to play on the complex playground before we went to visit Sasha. We bundled him up like good Kazakhs do. After some swinging and seesawing in the snow Kurt was frozen and wanted to walk for coffee. We hit up the same coffee spot we've been to a few times. I stuck to tea as that cafe was the last place I ate before losing lunch, dinner and the rest of my innards. We trudged home, unbundled our boy and then rebundled to go get Sasha. We settled in to the baby house and our munchkind was glad to see us. Turns out a camera crew was there to tape local babies to promote adoption so we had to make ourselves scarce. Ok - here comes my criminal part. After leaving the baby house we went to the Ramstore - totally out of our way now but it's on Respublika and it's where we shopped last time. Ahhh memory lane. So we're wandering around and we get some food, nuts, fruit etc. We walk down the beer area and are getting ready to turn the corner when we notice some bottled grapefruit gin and tonic beverages, 'rom cola' beverages etc. they were kind of funny so I snapped a picture. Ahh wrong move. Security swooped in on me and this big woman with her nifty Ramstore security outfit starts yammering at me and talking in her walkie talkie. Irina is trying to intercede but the woman is totally ignoring her. Off she walks and we're turning to try and scurry out when her supervisor security man comes up scolds me and tells me to erase my pictures. Obviously this is all via translation. He literally stood over my shoulder and watched me delete the pics. Sooo bummed. I would have taken a picture of the security woman because she was a piece of work but - well - you can see how they feel about pictures. For those fellow Astana families there is now a big underground crossing to get you from one side of the road outside the Ramstore and the bridge there is underconstruction. There's a new bypass to get to Respublika and 2 new bridges and highways. Jaimie and Gina - saw your old pad. Linda and Scott - we've been in your old hood twice now and are all nostalgic. P.S.Added pics of the Peace Pyramid to yesterday's posting.
Serik sticking stickers on mommy's face during our visit with Sasha - she's like 'what the heck am I getting into?'.
