Just a quick post today since I'm tired and both boys are already asleep - need to take advantage of my sleep time too. Went to the clinic today - Serik's on antibiotics for his finger which is better - but since it's been infected for so long she wants him on them. Kurt is on antibiotics too - something about the rattle in his lungs - nice.
Kurt was tired of sitting in the apartment so he joined us for a trip to the area's ski resort. A twisty road up out of Almaty that passed a speed skating oval (used for public skating when we drove by) and ended at the 'resort'. Smaller operation with one chair divided into 3 sections and a t-bar. Take a close look at the trail map sign - trails are marked for beginners, confident skiers and professionals. We checked it out and had lunch there - Serik's first meal at a ski area lodge. We're slowly breaking him in. That expedition took a couple of hours and we spent the late afternoon chilling at the apartment. Well chilling is the wrong word - more like roasting in the apartment. In Astana the apartment was warm but you could control the radiators - not here. I'm typing this in a tank top and shorts and the sweat is dripping off of me. No wonder little man is annoyed by this place - he's always a sweaty mess and can't cool off. Us too.
Tomorrow is our last day in Kazakhstan - we'll meet the Brabsons for lunch and then it's off to our Embassy appt. Maybe a few quick souvenir shops after that - although Kurt wants to see Panfilov park and the Cathedral in person so maybe we'll do that too. Hard to believe it's coming to an end but easy to believe at the same time.
